I woke up to a quiet Sunday morning here in the hills of Tennessee.

Ran across a video about beehive rounds — flechettes. Thousands of little steel darts packed into a single round.

This was it…

Then it hit me — I used to carry some of those little darts in my pocket in Vietnam. Just loose. Like it was nothing. I couldn’t tell you where I got them. Probably from some infantry dude I ran across.

It’s funny what sticks with you. Or what doesn’t… until it does.

I can count on one hand the number of times those little flechette darts have crossed my mind since coming home.

Until this morning.

It didn’t bring it all back.

Just enough to remember what it was like.
